The "Mundo" project is a media education and employment training initiative targeting immigrants, Romany, Sami and other ethnic minorities living in Finland.

* The strategic objective of the project is to reduce the social exclusion of immigrants and ethnic minorities from the Finnish media by raising their participation and representation levels in the Finnish television, radio, press and internet media.

* To improve the individual integration and collective community capacity of immigrants and ethnic miniorities in Finland.

* The operational objective of the project is to establish a regular weekly TV programme on YLE TV1 made by immigrants and ethnic minority staff trained by the Mundo project as reporters, camera persons, video editors, sound technicians and researchers.

* The exit strategy objectives will include developing a training model for adaptation nationally and transnationally.

* The exit strategy will also be aimed at securing ongoing mainstream funding to continue the project after 3 years.

The project is providing individual immigrants and ethnic miniority people with new and improved educational and employment opportunities and professional qualifications.

The project is a developmental partnership between YLE the public broadcaster in Finland, Helsinki Polytechnic "Stadia" media studies department and Dream Catcher Ltd, a multi-cultural magazine publisher in Finland.

YLE has provided "start up" project funding and staffing. YLE will also provide project management, administration, communications and promotional services, international development of partnerships and employment training.

"Stadia" (Helsinki Polytechnic) has also provided "start up" project funding and resources and will be providing student places, facillities and training for project participants.

Dream Catcher Ltd. will be providing employment training and work placements for project participants.
