Have you developed practices and innovative ideas in agriculture which can contribute to preserving the health of pollinators in Europe?

The European Bee Award will give away two prizes, 5000 € and 2500 €, to farmers, landowners, land managers or rural entrepreneurs who have set up particularly innovative systems to protect honey bees, bumble bees, flies, butterflies and other pollinators in the farmed environment.

The winners will also get a diploma of recognition and promotion opportunities from the award organisers the European Landowners’ Organization and the European Agricultural Machinery Association.

Last year’s winner was the Bavarian Farmers’ Association for their multi-partner project ‘Flowering frames’. Flowering frames works with farmers to sow flower strips around maize fields to help bees, insects and other wild animals to find food and build habitats. In 2014 there were 500 km of these flower strips already in place.
