Objective of the project (native language): 

Ziel ist die Entwicklung eines elektronischen Warnsystems mit automatisierter Diagnose von Erregern wichtiger Pflanzenkrankheiten, ein „Pathosensor“. Es entsteht ein Warnsystem mit höchster Sicherheit, das gleichzeitig umweltschonend ist, denn es sind hohe Wirkungsgrade möglich und überflüssige Maßnahmen fallen weg. Der Apfelschorf-Pathosensor soll als Modell für weitere Anwendungen dienen.

Objective of the project (in English): 

The aim is to develop an electronic warning system with automated diagnosis of pathogens of important plant diseases; a "pathosensor". The result is a warning system with maximum safety that is also environmentally friendly, as high efficiencies are possible and superfluous treatments can be dispensed with. In addition to its use in apple cultivation, this project also serves as a model for many fruit, vegetable and field crops.

Es wird ein „Pathosensor“ zum Aufstellen in Obstplantagen entwickelt. Dieser besteht aus einer Box, die Sporen aus der Luft ansaugt und einer speziellen Optik, mit der die Sporen erfasst werden. Diese werden mittels künstlicher Intelligenz identifiziert und gezählt. Daraufhin errechnet eine Software mit weiteren Daten das Infektionsrisiko und erstellt eine gezielte Behandlungsempfehlung. Das System kontrolliert permanent die Obstplantagen und der Anbauer erhält die Empfehlungen in Echtzeit.

Description of activities (in English): 

A prototype of the "pathosensor" will be developed for installation in orchards. This consists of a box that sucks spores from the air and a special optical system that detects the spores. These are identified and counted using artificial intelligence. Then a software calculates the risk of infection with further data and creates a specific treatment recommendation. The system permanently monitors the orchards and the grower receives the recommendations in real time.

 Die Erfassung von Krankheitserregern zusammen mit der Bestimmung des optimalen Zeitpunktes für Behandlungen kann im Obstanbau den Einsatz von Pflanzenschutzmitteln um bis zu 80% reduzieren - bei gleichzeitig verbessertem Schutz.
