2018 ELO Innovation Conference: Farm Data and How to use it

Clearly one of the big themes in agriculture and land management in the 21^st century will be the ongoing digitalisation of farm management and control. These technologies provide extraordinary opportunities to reduce input use, increase water management efficiencies and generally produce more whilst greatly reducing impacts on the environment.

However, key issues still remain before this technology is widely taken up. One of the key issues is around data management and privacy. There are clear advantages for both farmer and companies to pool data from different properties to create better region or even country-wide strategies, but how can farmers, companies and other stakeholders be sure that their data is still managed securely and with the right level of consent?

During the conference, we will host a first session on precision farming, data (ownership) and privacy to discuss the consequences of these technologies, and how all stakeholders can be secure about the data they produce, use and share with others.

During the second session, we will invite field experts from different parts of land management to demonstrate how digital technology is revolutionising their work and the way they approach their everyday life.
