Monica Scatasta heads the Council of Europe Development Bank’s (CEB) Technical Assessment and Monitoring Directorate, which houses the Bank’s sector and thematic experts.
She joined the CEB in March 2020, bringing 25 years of worldwide policy advisory and project finance experience in various international organisations, including the European Investment Bank (EIB), the OECD and the World Bank.
As the EIB’s Head of Climate, Environment and Social Policy in the four years that preceded her appointment at CEB, she contributed to the making of the “EU Climate Bank”. While at EIB, she oversaw multiple initiatives including the launch of the EIB Group’s first Gender Strategy and –in her previous role as Head of Water and Waste Management – the inception of EIB’s Circular Economy work.
Scatasta holds advanced degrees in economics, finance, environmental policy and engineering from the University of Bologna and the Johns Hopkins University.
