Xavier Matheu took up the post of Director ad interim of the ETF on 16 February 2022. Since January 2021, he is Head of the Knowledge Hub Department, which ensures the co-creation, management and sharing of ETF knowledge on human capital development (HCD) in partnership with European Commission services, partner countries and international stakeholders. It also provides updated and relevant factual information, monitoring, analysis and assessment on HCD in partner countries.
Since he joined the ETF in 2004, he held various positions as Head of the Policy Unit, Head of the Corporate Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit, and as expert in vocational education and training (VET) reform.
Earlier he worked in Barcelona for 14 years on technical assistance projects in the fields of VET reform and employment.
Born in 1961 in Barcelona (Spain), he holds qualifications in geography and history, social education and in-company training management.
