Mario Greco has been Zurich Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) since March 2016. His appointment marked a homecoming. He served at Zurich from 2007 to 2012, first as CEO Global Life and subsequently as CEO General Insurance. He was CEO of Generali from 2012 to 2016.
Greco joined the Sanpaolo IMI Group in Milan in 2005, first as CEO of EurizonVita and then as CEO of Eurizon Financial Group. Previously he was CEO at RAS (Allianz Group), which he joined in 1995, and was appointed to Allianz AG’s executive board at the end of 2004.
Greco began his professional career in 1986 at McKinsey & Company, where he became a partner in 1992.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Rome and a master’s degree in international economics and monetary theory from Rochester University.
Among his external appointments, Greco is chairman of the Pan-European Insurance Forum.
