Makati Mayor Abby Binay is in her third term as mayor. Since 2016 she has worked to make Makati a progressive, inclusive, and sustainable smart city.
She is currently the Vice-President of CityNet; President of CityNet National Cluster – Philippines; UCLG ASPAC Council Member; Executive Committee Member and former Vice-President of WeGO; Global Executive Committee Member – Lead Innovative Financing Portfolio of ICLEI World; Regional Executive Committee member as Lead of ICLEI Southeast Asia; City Ambassador for Asia of the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA); and Board Member of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM).
In 2021, she won the regional award in the Civil Service Commission’s Search for Outstanding Government Workers.
Before becoming mayor, she served three terms in Congress from 2007 to 2016.
Mayor Abby holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology, majoring in Human Settlements and Planning from UP Los Baños. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the Ateneo School of Law and passed the bar in 2002.
