Jaime Sáenz de Tejada has been Chief financial Officer of BBVA since March 2014.
Mr Sáenz de Tejada started his career in 1991 at Arthur Andersen before joining Banco Exterior de España (BEX) in 1993 as a risk analyst. He later moved to other positions within BEX, serving as deputy manager of the commercial department of BEX América in New York and Director of the Commercial Department of BEX America (Uruguay) in Montevideo.
In 1998, Mr Sáenz de Tejada joined BBVA, as Director of the BBVA office in London (1998-2000), and then New York (2000-05) before being appointed Managing Director of BBVA-Banco Continental in Lima.
In 2007, he returned to Spain to head the bank’s department for Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, before becoming Business Development Manager Spain & Portugal (2010-12). In 2014, he was appointed CFO and Member of the Board. In this capacity he oversees the Strategy and Finance areas within BBVA.
Mr Sáenz de Tejada holds degrees in Law and in Business Development and Economics from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas.
