No, replacing national digital identities is not the aim of the Regulation. Member States will continue to provide digital identities.
Instead the European Digital Identity Wallet will provide a harmonised platform to allow the seamless use of national digital ID in all EU Member States. The European Digital Identity framework extends the functionalities and usability of national eIDs by means of a personal digital wallet.
