About the service

The eDelivery cost tool assesses and quantifies the expected benefits of reusing eDelivery. In its essence, the eDelivery cost tool carries out a cost-benefit analysis for using eDelivery by allowing a project to compare two scenarios:

  • The eDelivery scenario – the scenario in which the project would use eDelivery;
  • The alternative scenario – the scenario in which the project would not opt for eDelivery.

By comparing the costs of both scenarios, over a five year period, the tool estimates the expected financial benefit of using eDelivery (the financial benefit being the cost savings due to the use eDelivery over another solution).

The cost of both scenarios is estimated based on inputs provided by the user of the cost tool. Moreover, the eDelivery cost tool uses the eDelivery Service Offering and the eDelivery User Journey by using them as an underlying framework to guide the user step-by-step through the cost estimations.

Users of the service

  • Service Providers: to assess and quantify the expected financial benefits, of reusing eDelivery, for themselves and their message exchange participants.
  • Software Providers: to offer the tool to their customers for the financial benefit assessment of the reuse of the Software Providers’ eDelivery solutions.

Benefits for the users of the service

The eDelivery cost tool helps projects build a business case for the reuse of eDelivery by providing them a user-friendly and holistic approach to:

  • Estimate the expected yearly financial benefit of eDelivery
  • Estimate the expected implementation duration of eDelivery
  • Identify when and how costs are incurred throughout the eDelivery User Journey
