<h2 style="font-family:verdana"> Business Registers Interconnection System</h2> 
<p style="font-size:16px; font-family:verdana;">The Business Registers Interconnection System (BRIS) DSI is an infrastructure that enables the cooperation and interoperability of Business Registers across Europe. The service allows users to <a href="https://e-justice.europa.eu/contentPresentation.do?clang=en&idTaxonomy=489">search for information on companies</a> registered in EU and European Economic Area (EEA) countries, and enables the connected registers to share information on foreign branches and cross-border mergers of companies. The company search functionality is available through the e-Justice Portal.</p>

<p style="font-size:14px; font-family:verdana;"> The system consists of:
<br/>
<ul>
<li>A core services platform, named the "European Central Platform" (ECP), which orchestrates all traffic among the domestic business registers and between the European e-Justice Portal and the EU and EEA countries associated to the programme;</li>
<li>The business registers of EU and EEA countries associated to the programme; and</li>
<li>The <a hred="https://e-justice.europa.eu/content_find_a_company-489-en.do?clang=en">‘Find a company’</a> section of the European e-Justice Portal which allows to search for and access company information from the national business registers.</li>
</ul></p>

Generic Services Projects support EU and EEA countries associated to the programme to meet the following main objectives:
<ul>
<li>Enabling business registers to support the evolving data model and standard messages coming from BRIS, which may involve the upgrade of the existing business registers;</li>
<li>Enabling business registers and/or central registers storing information on beneficial ownership to support the data model and the standard messages coming from BRIS, which may involve the upgrade of the existing business registers;</li>
<li>Operation and maintenance of access points once in operational mode.</li>
</ul></p>
<p style="font-size:14px; font-family:verdana;">
BRIS is supporting Member States to become compliant with obligations set out by <a href="https://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2012:156:0001:0009:en:PDF">Directive 2012/17/EU</a> (now part of <a href="https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A32017L1132">Directive 2017/1132</a>) on the interconnection of business registers and the <a href="https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:32015R0884&from=EN">Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/884</a> of 8 June 2015. The directive requires the establishment of an information system that interconnects the business registers of all Member States, whereas the Regulation details the technical specifications for the system.
BRIS is also supporting Member States to become compliant with obligations set out by <a href="https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=celex%3A32015L0849">Directive 2015/849</a> (as amended by <a href="https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A32018L0843">Directive 2018/843</a>) which requires the interconnection through the ECP of the national registers storing information on beneficial ownership of legal entities.
