On 8 July 2014 Commissioner Neven Mimica participated at the Breakfast Policy Briefing organised by the European Policy Centre and the Coalition for Health, Ethics and Society (CHES), where he presented views on a new EU regulatory framework for medical devices.
In his speech 
[24 KB] the Commissioner explained the main elements of the proposals and the current state of play in the negotiations in the Council and the European Parliament. He emphasised the importance of a swift adoption of the new regulations on medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices for ensuring the safety of patients and preserving the innovative edge of the European industry.
