Correction - Rheinische Post – article on Stuttgart 21

On Friday 15th October 2010, the office of European Commission Vice President Siim Kallas responsible for Transport corrected a misquote in remarks attributed to the Vice President in the Rheinische Post.
A Spokesperson for the Vice President clarified that "for the Commission what is very important is the link between Paris and Bratislava. That corridor, which is part of the Trans European Network is a priority project for the Commission. However, the decisions on the size or type of stations to be built along the corridor is a matter for Member States. In this case for Germany."
The Rheinische Post has apologised to the Commission for the serious error in their article on Friday morning, misquoting the Vice President, and placed a correction on their website on Friday afternoon.

Indes hat sich die EU-Kommission in den Streit um "Stuttgart 21" eingeschaltet und das Verkehrsprojekt für unverzichtbar erklärt. "Die Hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecke zwischen Paris und Bratislava ist eine extrem wichtige transeuropäische West-Ost-Achse", sagte EU-Verkehrskommissar Siim Kallas. Die Kommission lege allergrößten Wert darauf, dass sie gebaut werde. Und weiter: "Die Entscheidung über die Art und Größe von Bahnhöfen ist eine Angelegenheit der Mitgliedsstaaten in diesem Fall Deutschlands."
