Conference in Zaragoza reviews progress towards trans-European transport network

Speaking in Zaragoza at the opening of a three-day conference on the trans-European transport network (TEN-T), Vice-President Siim Kallas presented the Commission's proposed new methodology for TEN-T planning, and mentioned some findings from the latest progress report.

He also reiterated the priorities of EU transport policy, including better East­West links, increased efficiency and environmental performance, effective infrastructure planning, and leveraging R&D to develop intelligent transport systems.
