Europe House was buzzing on Friday 27 April with the sound of people getting advice about digital technology. As part of the European Year of Active Ageing, and Digital Unite's Spring Online campaign, the European Commission Representation in the UK, the UK Department for Work and Pensions and Age UK London held a two-hour digital workshop.

About 50 older people from across London came for help with everything from sending a text message to setting up a blog or a Facebook account, helped by volunteers from the three hosting organisations. Participants were given the chance to try out smartphones, tablet and e-readers and to test out a wide variety of digital media channels. There was even a surprise visit by Iain Duncan Smith, the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. The feedback on the day was very positive, with quite a number of the participants hoping that it would be repeated in the future.
