As set out in White Paper on Transport adopted on 28 March 2011, international transport cooperation will focus on extending internal market rules through work in international organisations and promoting European safety, security and environmental standards.
Another objective is to extend the EU´s transport and infrastructure policy to the closest neighbours to East and South. The EU will promote its approach also globally with a view to opening up transport markets to free and undistorted competition and environmentally sustainable solutions. International negotiations will aim at greater market access in transport.
