The European Union citizens and residents have the right to access documents produced by the European institutions.

The Commission publishes a wide range of documents, related to its decision making process and makes them available and accessible to the public through a Register. Citizens can search for and request documents by using an electronic application form.

Citizens can also access the registers of the European Parliament, Council of the European union  and  European Economic and Social Committee

The Commission publishes annual reports about the application of regulation on access to documents.
