FP7 Information Day on the call: FP7-CDRP-2013-INCUBATORS - 2 July 2012, Brussels

Join us at this event, which will bring together leaders in social innovation and business incubation, and other organisations including technology parks, universities and other science and research bodies.

Incubators for social innovation could accelerate the growth of small innovative businesses and enable experiments that are small and locally successful to be applied in other places across Europe, spreading good ideas and innovations. The Commission (Research and Innovation DG) will provide support for up to two transnational networks of incubators to facilitate the scaling up of social innovations from their local communities to higher geographical levels across Europe.

Energy Research Information Day – 2013 calls - 4 July 2012, Brussels

A number of energy-related Calls for Proposals under FP7 are planned to be published on 10 July 2012.
The info day will start with an introduction on the political context of the energy theme's work programme, followed by presentations of the individual calls. A part of the afternoon session will focus on the rules of participation.

The Polish National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EU and the European Commission are hoping to foster collaboration between partners across Europe for the final round of the European Commission's FP7 research calls.

During this brokerage event, in addition to presentations by the European Commission and the European Rail Research Advisory Council (see the programme on the event's website), participants will be able to:
- learn about the project proposals prepared by ERRAC members for the sixth transport call;
- present their project ideas and a profile of their institution;
- discuss their ideas with experts from ERRAC and the European Commission and potential partners identified during the event;
- establish new B2B contacts with partners from Europe.

A dedicated session will present national policies for financing rail transport research, industrial and R&D potential in the EU-12 countries.

Rail Freight Without Borders - RETRACK final conference - 11-12 June 2012, Budapest, Hungary

The RETRACK project is has designed, developmed and implementated a commercial trans-European rail freight service along the rail corridor between Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Hungary. It demonstrates that pan European continental rail freight can be competitive, reliable and value for money.

This event will present the project’s findings and successes, covering rail freight operations, policy, infrastructure, new concepts, longer remote controlled freight trains, shorter faster trains, refrigerated goods, synergistic hub planning and the opportunities to ship by rail through Europe-Asia to China by Siberia and TRACECA. The Conference will also feature contributions from other associated RailFreight Projects such as SUSTRAIL; D-Rail; Twin Hub; Marathon and SPECTRUM. Hosted in the historic city of Budapest, at the Hungarian Railway Museum, it will appeal to policy makers, operators, researchers, infrastructure managers and potential customers of future rail freight.

The final Marie Curie FP6 Conference is intended as a celebration of the achievements of the more than 14.000 Marie Curie fellows funded under FP6. It will provide a unique opportunity to show-case results and career successes. The event has been conceived in a modern and innovative way: the TED-style format with the theme focusing on mobility, research and innovation.

The Marie Curie Conference, which takes place on 10 and 11 July 2012, will offer current Marie Curie fellows special opportunities to broaden their career perspectives. The conference will include training sessions on how to access EC funding including presentations on Horizon 2020; patenting and how to write successful grant proposals. The main theme of the 2012 conference is communicating research and there will also be a series of workshops on the various aspects of communications including social media networking and speaking confidently to a non-scientific audience. The conference will focus on smart regional development based on knowledge and innovation. WIRE2012 will address main current issues related to the effective implementation of the Innovation Union at regional level for the next period 2014-2020, through three main thematic pillars:

Innovative regions in the Horizon 2020 will investigate the role of regions in smart specialisation, the role of cities as innovation hubs, and regional innovation ecosystems within Horizon 2020;
Stairway to Excellence will focus on the future of research and innovation at the regional level, on synergies between Horizon 2020 and the Cohesion Policy, and on smart specialisation in convergence regions and Centres of Excellence;

You might be one of the 50 FP6 Marie Curie fellows selected to participate in a final FP6 conference organised in Brussels in the first week of July 2012, with the objective to present a selected number of success stories. You may be interested in sharing with the scientific community, the policy makers and other stakeholders the output of your project.

This questionnaire will be available until 17th of March 2012.

Among the candidates coming to Brussels, 10-12 fellows will be offered the opportunity to provide a lively presentation, in the format of TED-style conferences.
