Business demography is an increasingly important subject as policy makers debate how to increase the competitiveness of the EU economy. The capacity to adapt to economic changes is crucial for competitiveness. Enterprise demography, to some degree, reflects the dynamism of the EU economy through the adaptation of economic structures to changing market conditions. This publication provides a comprehensive data set on enterprise births, deaths and survival rates, as well as information on related employment and turnover. The publication also contains information that is broken down by employee size-class and by the legal form of the enterprise, as well as a special focus on the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) sector.
