The production index for construction measures movements of production (in volume) at constant prices and indicates how the construction industry is developing in relation to other sectors of the economy. In the third quarter of 2005 – reference date for the current study - and according to national accounts, the construction activity (as defined by NACE Section F) accounted for 5.5 % of gross value added (at basic prices) in the EU-25's economy.
