CPA 1996 - Statistical classification of products by activity in the European Economic Community - Products Manuals and Guidelines

The statistical classification of products by activity in the European Economic Community (CPA) is a product nomenclature structured according to industrial origin. It is harmonized with other Community classifications of activities and products: NACE Rev. 1, PRODCOM and the Combined Nomenclature, and with the corresponding United Nations classifications. Use of the CPA became compulsory with Council Regulation (EEC) No 3696/93, which was amended by Commission Regulation (EC) No 1232/98 on 17 June 1998 (OJ L 177, 22.6.1998). The published version of the CPA comprises the legal basis for the classification, the classification proper and the explanatory notes.
