On 29 November, Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis, in charge of Health and Food Safety, will address members of the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste (FLW) at its inaugural meeting. Launched as part of the Circular Economy Package Action Plan, this Platform will spearhead EU efforts to fight food waste from farm to fork.

On 23 November the Commission and the OECD presented the new "Health at a Glance: Europe" report. The report is the first step in a new two-year cycle of DG SANTE, bringing together expertise to strengthen country-specific and EU-wide knowledge on health. The report was presented by Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis and OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría in Brussels. At the occasion of the launch, Director-General Xavier Prats Monné and OECD Director Stefano Scarpetta signed a new strategic cooperation arrangement.

On 23 November 2016, the Commission adopted a Decision on the placing on the market of a GM cut flower (carnation line SHD-27531-4). The Decision covers the placing on the market of this GMO for ornamental purposes only and excludes cultivation. The genetic modification is for a specific flower colour.
