New proposals on Alternative and Online Dispute Resolution ADR and ODR in the EU today Calendar Useful links

On 29 November 2011 the Commission proposed legislation to help consumers solve their disputes with businesses out of court:

• Proposed Directive on consumer ADR for effective, impartial and transparent ADR schemes for all kinds of consumer disputes;
• Proposed Regulation on consumer ODR - online platform for resolving consumer disputes about online purchases in another EU country.

ADR still faces difficulties - gaps in coverage, especially for shopping online and in other EU countries, low awareness of ADR among consumers and quality of ADR. The new proposals address these problems.
