Between 9 and 11 of May, 5 000 young Europeans gathered in Strasbourg to discuss the future of Europe, to attend the European Youth Event at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou highlighted the importance of education, training and non-formal learning opportunities during two panel debates:

  • "Erasmus+, a trump card for getting your first job", focussed on mobility and exchange programmes and how they help young people to find employment.
  • "Don't ask what Europe can do for you... ", stressed the value of volunteering for society and its impact on the personal and professional development of young people.

During five live discussions, DG EAC staff presented the Erasmus+ Choose translations of the previous link  programme,  focusing on mobility and non-formal learning opportunities as well as the international aspects of the programme.

As an outcome of the three-day event, newly elected MEPs will receive a proposal for action on the future of Europe in July 2014.
