The agreement renews the partnership, which has started in 1998 and joins forces between the two European institutions to tackle major challenges that young people face in Europe.

During the years 2014-2016 the EU-CoE youth partnership will focus on youth participation and citizenship, social inclusion and youth work. Activities will support the participation of young people in society, the gaining of better knowledge about their situation and the enhancement of quality and recognition of youth work.

The activities of the youth partnership target decision-makers, governmental experts, researchers, practitioners and youth organisations for the benefit of young people in Europe. They also reach out to the EU's neighbouring countries.
