The European Commission will be present throughout the Show: at stand 100 the Commission's Representation in the UK will distribute free educational resources for teachers and others. At the adjacent stand 120 the Commission's translation service, DG Translation, will offer information and advice about careers in languages in the EU institutions, including on the potential implications of the UK's decision to withdraw from the European Union. There will also be information about the EU's support programme for educational exchanges, Erasmus+, which celebrates its thirtieth anniversary in 2017.
DG Translation has two slots in the seminar programme:
Saturday 14 October at 12.30 in seminar room 2: Translating Europe workshop on translator skills and employability (co-organised with the Institute of Translation and Interpreting and the Chartered Institute of Linguists). A panel of translation industry speakers discuss the skills that new translators entering the sector will need, ahead of the Translating Europe Forum in Brussels on 6-7 November.
Sunday 15 October at 10.30 in seminar room 2: a talk on Multilingualism and the EU.
More information on all seminars
DG Translation staff will also give a talk on EU translation careers in the Careers Forum: on Friday 13 October at 13.30 and again on Saturday 14 October at 15.30.
