GROW - DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs
The group shall provide recommendations, advice, and expertise to the Commission, Member States and regions on how to better use clusters as a strategic tool of industrial policy, interregional collaboration and for integrating SMEs into EU and global value chains.
The mandate of the expert group would last until 31 December 2020.
Assist the Commission in relation to the implementation of existing Union legislation, programmes and policies

The groups's tasks shall be:
a) to provide input and guidance for regional, national and European cluster policy on the better use of clusters as a strategic tool for industrial policy with the purpose of fostering strategic interregional collaboration along strategic value chains, supporting SMEs in the up-take of advanced technologies, digitalisation, new business models and resource-efficient solutions as well for accelerating skills upgrading, talent attraction, entrepreneurship, internationalisation activities and access to global value chains;
b) to identify and share best practices examples of modern cluster policy and development at national and regional level that have boosted industrial modernisation, entrepreneurship and the competitiveness of European businesses, notably SMEs;
c) to provide input and guidance for the preparation and implementation of the next generation of EU cluster initiatives, notably the Joint Cluster Initiatives under the COSME pillar of the Sing
