What is SOTEU
and why is it relevant for you?
Every year, the President of the European Commission delivers the State of the Union address – known as SOTEU – to the European Parliament.
SOTEU is about making sure that Europe is meeting the expectations of Europeans.
The President presents her plans and sets the agenda for what the European Union should deliver to respond to the needs of Europeans, with concrete initiatives.
This is also a moment to pay tribute to European people, everyday heroes: for example, the paralympic athletes achieving what seemed impossible, the humanitarian workers delivering aid on the frontline.
