The application procedure consists of registration through EU Login, filling in of the application form and submission.

Are you ready to step into this adventure?

STEP 1: Self-assessment

This section is to help you to estimate your chances to successfully pass pre-selections and get into the Blue Book, the final list of candidates for the nearest traineeship session.

If your scores are encouraging, continue with registration of your application.

The Commission and its Agencies are counting on you!

Behind the button below you will find some questions. Answer and you will discover results in %, compare your answers with the average probability of your success based on candidates' and trainees' statistics data from last traineeship sessions.

STEP 2: Register

Before you start you must have an account with EU Login (European Commission Authentication Service)

If you are a new user:

  • Create an account
  • Fill in the Sign Up form
  • Click the Submit button
  • Check your email account (check the spam folder too).
  • In the email, click on the link to create your password
  • Click on Proceed to go to the Application form.

If you log in for a second or consecutive time, you simply type in your username and password.

For all questions regarding your registration with EU Login (European Commission's authentication service) see the EU Login FAQ page.

STEP 3: Fill in and submit the application

Please do not wait for the very last day/s of an application period to apply!

Any request for support (including technical support) might need up to three working days to be treated, so if you contact us the last three days we cannot guarantee that the needed support can be given to you.

Log in and complete each section of the application form following the instructions provided on-screen.

You do not have to fill in the entire form in a single session. You can save your entries and log in later to make changes to them, if necessary, and/or complete/finalize the form. You can also preview your application form in printer-friendly PDF version at any time during the application period.

Before submitting your application, the system will show you its overview, as well as the sections that should be filled in. Once your form is correctly filled in, containing information in each relevant section, a "Submit application" button will be enabled. Once you have clicked on this button, no further modifications can be introduced. Your application is now registered in the system.

A receipt confirmation will appear on your screen, along with your candidate number. Only if you have received such a number is your application correctly submitted. In case of queries or technical problems, please contact the Traineeships Office through the “Contact” section.

The European Commission does not require you to submit any documents with your application form. Only afterwards, when the assessment phase of the pre-selection is finalized, pre-identified candidates for the Virtual Blue Book will be invited to upload supporting documents in electronic version, such as:

  1. COPY OF
    • Valid ID card/passport;
    • University qualifications declared as completed (by deadline for applications);
  2. PROOF OF
    • Ongoing studies, university exchange programme abroad, participation in EU/international programmes, seminars/workshops, if applicable;
    • All declared language skills other than the mother tongue/s;
    • All declared work experience, if applicable;
    • All declared publications, if applicable. Publications which are part of education do not count.

Please make sure that you submit all proof necessary to support your declarations (and only pertinent to your declarations). You are excluded if your documentation does not match information declared in your application form. Do not underestimate the time necessary to collect all necessary documents!
