The traineeship provided me with the perfect opportunity to transition from academia to work. I was lucky enough to work in a unit with whom my knowledge and skills matched and could be put to practice. I have learnt much more on what the EU is, and understood more concretely on where and how I can contribute. Indeed, a major lesson learnt from doing this traineeship is that the EU is not some big brother watching over its Member States and citizens, but rather we are the EU and it is up to us to determine its future and impact beyond its borders.
