#BeActive is a call to action to get Europeans moving!

The European Week of Sport aims to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. The Week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, it will inspire Europeans to #BeActive on a regular basis and create opportunities in peoples’ everyday lives to exercise more.

The week in your country

The European Week of Sport is meant to be a truly European event. It will be headlined in Brussels from 10 to 17 September, and thousands of events will take place across Europe during national weeks until the end of month.

Opening ceremony

The 2016 Week was officially opened by Commissioner Tibor Navracsics and other high-level representatives of the European institutions and the sport world, from Košice, Slovakia, in the morning of Saturday 10 September.

Flagship event

At the heart of the week will be the Flagship Event. The theme of this year's Flagship Event will be 'Good Governance in Sport'. The day will start with interactive workshops in the morning, followed by a conference in the afternoon and a walking dinner in the evening.

The expected participants will be high-level representatives of major sport federations, European Olympic Committees and national Olympic Committees as well as representatives of EU institutions, Member States and other European/international organisations. The event will take place in Brussels on 15 September.
