Amal Amjahid

Amal Amjahid

My name is Amal Amjahid, I am 23 years old and I live in Molenbeek. My passion for Jiu-Jitsu started early, around the age of six. The trigger was a fight in school against a big, intimidating boy. After this event, my teachers advised my parents to practice a fighting sport to better focus my energy. I tried out a lot of disciplines but Jiu-Jitsu was my favorite choice. Since 2008, I've been passing on my passion and sports values at my academy called "Cens Academy", which I created in Molenbeek with my parents. This academy aims to support young people by developing their talents through the practice of Jiu-Jitsu.
We also offer courses such as psychomotricity, gymnastics, and wheelchair football for disabled people, as well as school tutoring sessions. It is very important for me to convey the values of respect of sharing starting at an early age.
Fair play is a value that I defend as an ambassador for Play4Peace, an organization that promotes diversity through sports. This commitment led me to win the Ethics Prize of the Federation Wallonie-Bruxelles (2017). I am a girl and am proud to be an example of how to effectively combine studies (bachelor educator), international championships (I am a high-performance ADEPS athlete and won 7 Gold medals at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships) and spend time on societal actions such as the "Together" plan (which helps migrants), the 17 Sustainable Development Goals initiated by United Nations, the "ADEPS For Life" project for poor children... and I’m happy to be one of the Ambassador for the #BeActive European Week of Sport 2019.
