The conference in Lisbon on 27 and 28 November aims to boost social innovation in Europe because social innovation is a good, cost-effective way to advance inclusive and wealth-creating public policies.
A new narrative for social innovation will be developed by sharing experiences, learning about new trends and networking, to increase the effectiveness of social innovation as a public policy instrument.
It will bring together 400 participants from world-class scientists, innovators, social entrepreneurs, civil society representatives, national over regional policy makers, municipal and city level actors, impact investors to philanthropists, venture capitalists, business angels, business school students, politicians, etc.
This conference is jointly organised by the European Commission, the Portuguese Government and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. It will be hosted by:
- Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation,
- Marianne Thyssen, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility,
- Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, Minister of the Presidency and of Administrative Modernisation of Portugal, and
- Isabel Mota, President of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
High level speakers include Commissioners Thyssen and Moedas, the Prime Minister of Portugal, and several ministers.
