Real Economy: Where is Europe finding the money to host millions of Ukrainian refugees?

With an estimated 6 million people having fled the war in Ukraine to mostly neighbouring countries, the latest episode Euronews Real Economy episode features a visit to one of the frontline countries, Romania, to see how the country is showing unprecedented solidarity in welcoming these people.

Euronews takes a look at which EU funds are helping member states deal with the cost of this humanitarian emergency. It explains how the EU cohesion money can be used to provide temporary accommodation, food, clothing as well as medical care and education.

An interview with Romania's Education Minister, Sorin Mihai Cîmpeanu, explains the unique opportunity of the “Educated Romania” project and the use of EU funds as sources to finance it.
