The President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker and Sweden’s Prime Minister, Stefan Löfven will host a social summit in Gothenburg on 17 November 2017, focusing on promoting fair jobs and growth.
European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility Marianne Thyssen and European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis will also participate at the summit, where EU leaders will proclaim the European Pillar of Social Rights.
The Social summit for fair jobs and growth will gather heads of State and government, social partners and other key players to work together on a more social Europe and to promote fair jobs and growth.
Well-functioning and fair European labour markets, effective and sustainable social protection systems and the promotion of social dialogue at all levels will be at the heart of the summit agenda.

Citizens’ dialogue on how Europe can contribute to fair jobs and growth
On 16 November, the European Commission will host a citizens’ dialogue in connection with the Social Summit for Fair Jobs and Growth. Take the opportunity to tell us how you think the EU should tackle future challenges and opportunities.
European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility Marianne Thyssen, European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström, and Minister for Employment and Integration Ylva Johansson will take part in the citizens’ dialogue at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.
