Experts Committee presents recommendations for actions against age discrimination in Germany
The German Anti-discrimination Agency (ADS) has declared 2012 the Year Against Age Discrimination. Under this framework, an Experts Committee presided by Dr. Henning Scherf has been working in the last months to present a series of concrete actions and recommendations to reduce age discrimination in Germany.

Lithuania celebrates the end of the European Year 2012 reminding that it is crucial to support initiatives in the field of active ageing
The National Closing Conference of the European Year 2012 in Lithuania took place in Vilnius on December 17th, organised by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour. The Director of Family and Communities Department of the Ministry, Jolanta Zabietienė, opened the event welcoming participants and inviting them to participate and interact in the scheduled debate about solidarity and interrelations between generations.

The European Year Ambassadors, honoured at the closing ceremony of the EY2012 in Latvia
The Latvian closing event of the European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012 took place on December 12th in Riga. More than 100 participants attended the ceremony, including representatives of the Welfare Ministry, senior NGOs, authorities, journalists and member of institutions involved in the EY2012.

The National Closing Conference of the European Year 2012 in Slovakia invites to debate about intergenerational dialogue
The National Closing Conference of the European Year 2012 in Slovakia took place in Bratislava on December 14th under the title “Human Rights through Intergenerational Dialogue”. Jointly organised by the Government Office of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the conference invited participants to debate about solidarity and dialogue between generations.

On 13 December, the closing ceremony for the European Year 2012 in Ireland provided a forum for identifying how to keep active ageing and solidarity between generations on the national agenda, while encouraging dialogue on related issues of policy and research.
