Who survives in self-employment?
Promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship has a strong potential to create jobs, strengthen the EU’s innovation capacity and give unemployed and disadvantaged people an opportunity to fully participate in society and the economy (provided they get the necessary support to make the transition).

Adequate pensions: new report calls for measures to enable people to work until they reach the pension age
Europe’s pension systems can be expected to deliver adequate pensions also to future generations of retirees provided Member States pursue strong policies to enable as many workers as possible to stay in jobs until they reach the statutory pension age, a new report on pension adequacy shows.

The majority of the unemployed in the EU do not receive unemployment benefits
In all EU countries, social security systems are in place to provide a safety net to those who lose their jobs. Much has been said about the generosity of unemployment benefits that may entice workers to stay at home rather than to look for a job, or about the need to make sure that the unemployed receiving benefits also meet obligations to actually look for a job or get training.

Performance of the EU Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) programme in 2014
2014 was the first implementation year of the European Union Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI). To ensure a high visibility and to respond to accountability needs, a report has been published on the performance of the EaSI programme, which consists of three axes: the Progress, EURES, and Microfinance and Social Entrepreneurship axis.
