Organised under the Spanish EU Presidency, the conference will explore how to concretely advance a comprehensive skills and jobs agenda in the framework of the Europe 2020 Strategy, focusing both on skills upgrading in line with future needs, and the better matching of skills and jobs.
Sessions will set out the challenges which lie ahead, examine different approaches and examples which can promote a skills and jobs agenda, and debate how the EU and Member States can work effectively together. The final session will bring together the current and future EU Presidencies, members of the European Parliament, the social partners and the Commission to discuss how 'New Skills for New Jobs' can contribute to the Europe 2020 Strategy.
Speakers will include László Andor, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture and Youth and Celestino Corbacho, Spanish Minister for Employment and Immigration.
Outcomes of the conference will be available in the coming weeks.
