Webinar: Rights and protections for apprentices at work
On 11 December, the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA) will host a webinar to discuss the rights and protections for apprentices at work.

Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study. This leads to a series of questions:
- Are apprentices employees or students, or are they both?
- What rights and protections do they have?
- Are apprentices exposed to exploitation?
- What measures can be implemented to safeguard apprentices?
This EAfA webinar will attempt to answer these questions and provide insights on what rights and protections apprentices have access to in different EU Member States.
The webinar speakers include Dr Jeff Bridgford, who is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow in the School of Education, Communication and Society at King’s College London. Jeff is also currently acting as an expert for the European Commission and the International Labour Organization.
Eamon Devoy will also be joining the webinar as an expert speaker. Eamon is the Irish Congress of Trade Unions representative to the Apprenticeship Advisory Committee of the National Training Authority and the National Apprenticeship Council.
We will also be joined by Ann Vanden Bulcke from the European Commission. Ann is working at the Vocational Education and Training and Adult Learning Policy Unit in the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.
And finally, we are pleased to have Henri Mokambo from the European Apprentices Network. Henri is in charge of legal and political monitoring and other missions related to representation at different levels (local, regional, national and European).
The presentations will be followed by a question and answer session.
