Funding for social dialogue

Three budget lines aim at promoting European social dialogue at cross-industry and sector level, as well as at company level, while respecting the autonomy of the social partners in line with Articles 152-155 TFEU.

  1. Information and training measure for workers’ organisations: earmarked for activities targeted at capacity building of workers’ organisations and training their representatives.

  2. Industrial relations and social dialogue: funds social dialogue actions by both sides of industry

These two budget lines are a key source of funding for European social partners to develop their autonomous joint action, as well as to respond to Commission consultations and initiatives, including through capacity building activities. They are also important tools for helping the Commission to achieve its social policy objectives, as they support social partners in their efforts to address the challenges facing European employment and social policy and to support the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights.

  3. Information, consultation and participation of representatives of undertakings

This budget line aims at the development of social dialogue at company level through employees' involvement in undertakings, the strengthening of transnational co-operation between workers' and employers' representatives in respect of information, consultation and participation within undertakings operating in more than one Member State and the improvement of the functioning of European Work Councils.
