Horeca Vorming Vlaanderen started in 2013 an action plan to promote apprentices to choose for a training programme in catering and to strengthen the quality of the training programmes.

The action plan consists of:

  1. The development of a tool to match the expectations and learning potential of the apprentice with the expectations and the learning a restaurant or bistro can offer.
  2. Extra training programmes for apprentices in specific domains as Food Safety, Personal Safety, Product Knowledge and Soft Skills.
  3. The development of new assessment tools for the certification of apprenticeship training programmes.

The main objective of this plan is a rise in the number of successful apprenticeships.
