“Basque VT 2015" STRATEGIC AGENDA

For the Basque Government innovation in general and the need to transform our competitiveness model are of paramount importance. In light of the current economic challenges we envisage to transform our vocational training system towards a model built on two main pillars: the support of the VT centres and the use of apprenticeships targeted at SMEs. The Basque Government has therefore put in place the “Basque VT Strategic Agenda 2015” (“Agenda Estratégica FP Euskadi 2015”) to implement the objectives of EU2020 Strategy, with the aim to:

  • Put forward a Vocational Training Bill that will strengthen Basque vocational training
  • in new areas/sectors in terms of training and learning, addressing also crucial
  • aspects such as technology, applied innovation, continuous improvement. The
  • initiative foresees the support of Basque and international companies.
  • Focus on developing more high quality apprenticeships through the 4th Basque
  • Vocational Training Plan,
  • Design of a new type of VT centre, which facilitates the inclusion of start-ups,
  • Support of the VT centres in the internationalisation of Basque companies through continuous improvement, training, apprenticeships and vocational guidance,
  • Improve the European cooperation between VET centres and companies through apprenticeship schemes.

The “Basque VT Strategic Agenda 2015” is a regional initiative led by a regional authority with public and private stakeholders participation.
