Union of Education Norway represents all teaching grades in Norway, in all educational sectors of education from Early Childhood Education to University. Union of Education Norway is a member of ETUCE (European Trade Union Committee for Education).  Union of Education Norway is affiliated to The Confederation of Unions for Professionals (Unio), which is a member of ETUC (European Trade Union Confederation).

Union of Education Norway is supporting ETUCE and other European trade unions’ and teacher trade unions’ actions to improve apprenticeship, and we support the objectives of the European Alliance  for Apprenticeship.

Among various actions that have already been carried out with respect to this topic, the Union of Education Norway has been involved in several projects on Apprenticeship.  Union of Education Norway is cooperating within The National Council for VET, and The Union played an important role in developing “The Social Contract” between the Norwegian Government and the main organizations - an important effort for more apprenticeships.

In line with the objectives of the European Alliance for Apprenticeship, Union of Education Norway  will:

• Raise awareness about the European Alliance for Apprenticeships and campaign to work towards more quality, accessible and fair apprenticeships in Norway.
• Participate in different European arenas and promote quality in VET, in particular apprenticeship, for young people.
• Initiate more knowledge and research in the field of apprenticeship.
• Provide appropriate time for discussion between teachers, trainers and students in VET schools and work places to ensure that the students receive instruction, guidance and a genuine eligibility for present and further studies and employability.
• Ensure quality apprenticeship places in the enterprises.
• Ensure a safe working environment during apprenticeship since such students may be more vulnerable or more subject to accident or ill health.
• Improve quality teaching in VET.
• Improve cooperation between VET-schools and companies for better understanding and education for young people.
•  Improve VET-teacher education and further education in a lifelong perspective.

Partners will be Norwegian students, teachers, trainers, other social partners and the Norwegian Government.
