Policy memo exploring the childcare gap in the EU
In most – but not all – EU Member States, there is a ‘gap’ period between the end of the childcare leave and entry into Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC). During this gap, families with young children are unable to benefit from well-compensated childcare leave or a guaranteed (or otherwise state-supported) place in ECEC. This EPIC policy memo will present an overview of what is known about the childcare gap, discusses policies to address the gap, and reflects on future research that might build on this knowledge base.

Across the European Union, Member States’ approaches to sexuality education in schools varies considerably meaning different children receive different messages about living in today’s society. An upcoming EPIC policy memo will look at how sexuality education is delivered across the EU Member States.
