MSCA Presidency Conference: synergies with European Universities and supervision

MSCA Presidency Conferences are organised in cooperation between the Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission (DG EAC) and interested individual Council Presidencies. The German Presidency Conference, initially planned as a physical event, will finally take place online due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

In the context of Horizon Europe, the EU’s new research and innovation framework programme commencing in 2021, the German MSCA Conference will address topics politically linked to the MSCA. In particular, it will focus on synergies between the MSCA and European Universities relevant to the future Council’s Conclusions on the European Universities Initiative. The conference will also address challenges related to supervision in the MSCA via four parallel workshops.

The full programme can be consulted on the event’s website.

Falling Walls Lab MSCA

The Conference will also host the annual edition of the MSCA Falling Walls Lab competition. This initiative is part of a worldwide science contest showcasing the most promising researchers and innovators. For its fourth edition, 20 current MSCA fellows representing a mix of disciplines, nationalities and career stages will have the opportunity to present their research. Their three-minute pitches will take place in front of a distinguished jury representing science and business organisations..

The first-place winner will receive the opportunity to attend the Falling Walls Remote 2020: Breakthroughs of the Year event (4-9 November) as one of the finalists in the Emerging Talents category. They will also have the opportunity to compete against 100 winners of international labs to become the “Breakthrough Winner of the Year”.
