Michela Puddu, former Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) fellow from Italy, wins the award of the 2019 Rising Innovator Prize. This award is part of the EU Prize for Women Innovators. Michela co-invented the Haelixa technology for product identification during her PhD in Chemical Engineering at ETH Zurich with Mag(NET)icFUN. Mag(NET)icFUN is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Initial Training Network involving six academic institutions and three companies, located in Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK.
Puddu is co-founder and CEO of Haelixa, a company that uses intelligent DNA-based tracing solutions to ensure ethical and transparent production of goods, with special focus on sustainable products such as organic cotton. With some products already on the market and others under development, the company aims to provide the next level industry standard for consumer good supply chain traceability.
