Vice President, Forum for Euro-Mediterranean Innovation in Action

Hanan Dowidar is a development professional with proven track record in project management, international cooperation and strategic communications stemming from more than 15 years experience in international organizations and governmental institutions.

Dowidar’s work for the World Bank both in Washington DC and the Cairo Office

equipped her with complementary yet vastly different development work experience through headquarters strategic planning and field office implementation and grass root knowledge.

Dowidar acquired strong knowledge of EU project management, operational policies and business practices as the Deputy Director of the EU-funded Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Programme. Working for RDI allowed her to gain first-hand experience in science and innovation policies and practices.

Dowidar is currently the Vice President of the Forum for Mediterranean Innovation in Action (FEMIA), a newly established association aiming to promote and implement innovative actions towards sustainable development in the Mediterranean.

Dowidar’s passion for communicating science for development was evident through the numerous initiatives introduced in Egypt by the RDI Programme. Her recent assignment

as the Advisor to the President of the American University in Cairo allowed her to continue her work in supporting informal science education initiatives. She currently pursues her efforts in this domain through diverse consultancy and volunteer assignments.

Dowidar holds a Master of Arts in Political Science with specialization in Development and a Bachelor of Science in Economics.
