Smart Regions: In Sweden, cities are on track to become climate-neutral with a fossil fuel-free strategy

In Southern Sweden, cities want to become climate-neutral across a number of municipal services.

In seven cities amongst which Malmö and Lund polluting fuels such as petrol, oil and natural gas have been minimised. Decarbonising transportation has been a top priority.

Among the various initiatives taken, the municipality of Lund has developed a groundbreaking system for business travel. City employees now have access to a green fleet of vehicles via a booking system.

Other initiatives are in the area of heating, transport and construction.
