The Meeting Place

The Meeting Place

Located in the European Committee of the Regions premises, the Meeting Place offers a central location for participants to join a workshop, meet informally, network or develop new or existing partnerships.

Workshops, debates and thematic networking sessions

Meeting Place working sessions are organised by the European Committee of the Regions, regions and cities, and a variety of European associations under the event's thematic priorities. A large part of the Meeting Place working sessions are immediately followed by a networking session.

Join the interactive sessions at the Meeting place

This year the Meeting place will offer a variety of interactive sessions presented by different EU programmes:

Pathways to a circular economy in cities and regions

ESPON, INTERACT, Interreg Europe and URBACT have joined forces to explore the pathways for cities and regions to transition to a circular economy. By attending this session you will have a chance to learn about good practices from all around Europe and exchange with practitioners and experts of the field on the types of support available through the pan-European programmes.(12/10/2016 [09:00-11:15], Workshop code: 12A61 - More information and registration)

Urban Innovative Actions: solutions for sustainable urban development from cities in the second call for proposals

A session presented by the Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) Initiative is a must if you represent a city and are looking to finance your innovative ideas on the integration of migrants and refugees, the circular economy or sustainable urban mobility. Here you will learn what the UIA offers and can join thematic networking corners to exchange with other participants. How can cities use smart technology to encourage a circular chain of local production, distribution and consumption?

Building on the assets of cities involved in city networks, the URBACT programme will provide guidance and recommendations for cities willing to develop or adapt smart technology solutions on local food policies, enterprise waste and other topics. This workshop is useful for those looking to develop or adapt similar solutions in their local context. (12/10/2016 [11:15-13:00], Workshop code: URB12A89 - More information and registration)

Policy learning lab: practical approaches for smart and sustainable regions

If you have ideas on how to improve regional policies in Europe and are working on Research and innovation, SME competitiveness, Low-carbon economy or Environment & resource efficiency, do not miss the Policy Learning Lab offered by Interreg Europe. This session aims to bring together like-minded policymakers, practitioners and experts working to improve structural funds and other policies to discover this new capitalisation and capacity building community for policymakers. It is a great opportunity to contribute your ideas on the particular challenges that platforms should prioritise and the services you would like to see offered between now and 2020.
